Crystal Care 101: Cleaning, Storage & Handling Tips for Every Stone

Proper care and storage can significantly extend the life and beauty of your crystals and jewelry. Below is our care guide for some of our most popular product categories.

S925 Sterling Silver Jewelry

Our S925 sterling silver jewelry contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper alloy. Each piece is individually packaged in a sealed bag to prevent oxidation — keep it sealed until you are ready to use or sell it.

If your silver turns black:
Soak the piece in black Coca-Cola for 3 minutes, then gently wipe clean. Do not soak for longer than 3 minutes as prolonged exposure may loosen gemstone settings.

Storage tips:

  • Keep in sealed bags or airtight containers when not in use
  • Avoid exposure to moisture, perfume, and chemicals
  • Store separately to prevent scratching

Fluorite & Malachite

Fluorite and malachite are relatively soft stones that require extra care during handling and storage.

  • When unpacking, do not use a knife or sharp object near the stone surface — even light contact can cause chips or scratches
  • Do not store alongside sharp or hard objects
  • Avoid direct sunlight and strong light sources — prolonged exposure can cause fading
  • Store in a cool, shaded location away from direct light

Enhydro Quartz

Enhydro quartz contains natural water bubbles trapped inside the crystal during formation. This makes it sensitive to extreme temperatures.

  • Do not purchase or ship to locations where temperatures drop below 0°C (32°F) in winter — freezing can damage or crack the crystal
  • Store at room temperature — avoid both very hot and very cold environments
  • Keep away from direct heat sources such as radiators or sunny windowsills

Shungite

Shungite is a rare black stone found only in Karelia, Russia, and is the only known stone to contain fullerenes — a unique form of carbon that earned a Nobel Prize in 1996.

Types of Shungite:

  • Elite (Noble) Shungite — 90%+ carbon content, silvery shiny appearance, very fragile. The most powerful type for healing and EMF protection purposes.
  • Black (Petrovsky) Shungite — 50–75% carbon, deep black color, can be cut and polished into various shapes.
  • Gray Shungite — 30–50% carbon, dark gray color. Used for bowls, pyramids, spheres, jewelry, and more.

Please note: All Shungite products on our website are Gray Shungite. Gray Shungite does not conduct electricity due to its lower carbon content.

Care tips:

  • Handle Elite Shungite with care — it is fragile and can break easily
  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth to clean
  • Avoid prolonged water exposure
